Compuware pays $31M for local developer

Proxima Technology was purchased by Compuware Corp. for $31 million in cash, the companies said Wednesday.

Based in Denver, privately held Proxima develops software to improve service delivery processes. The company's flagship product is called Centauri. Proxima employs about 70 people.

Founded in 1973, Detroit-based Compuware (NASDAQ: CPWR - News) serves 90 percent of the Fortune 100 companies, according to a press release.

Compuware, which employs 7,510 people worldwide, specializes in software designed to help chief information officers more effectively manage the business of information technology. The company reported $1.2 billion in revenue and net income of $143 million for the fiscal year ending March 2006.
