Loan Center of California Sees Productivity Spike with Internet Filtering from St. Bernard Software

St. Bernard Software, Inc. (OTCBB:SBSW - News), a global provider of security solutions for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), today announced that Loan Center of California has deployed its iPrism Internet filtering solution to manage and block employee access to non-business-related Web sites. As a result, the company has received greater insight and control over employee Internet usage.

Loan Center of California is a leading technology-based home mortgage lender. In the home finance business, response time is critical to maintaining a competitive edge. The company needed a Web filtering solution that would maximize employee productivity and conform to its Internet policy by assisting in the prevention of system infections by Web-related threats, such as malware and spyware.

The IT staff set out to find a solution that was affordable, easily managed and did not require technical training. After testing solutions from other software and hardware vendors, Loan Center of California selected St. Bernard Software's iPrism appliance. Once deployed, iPrism reported that some employees were spending significant amounts of time on activities unrelated to their business objectives - namely visiting social networking sites, shopping online, downloading streaming media or chatting with friends.

iPrism allows the management at Loan Center of California to focus on its strategic business goals rather than worry about whether or not employees are surfing the Internet. In addition, the real-time monitoring and reporting system provided by iPrism gives Human Resources the necessary tools to proactively address inappropriate employee behavior, and provides managers with valuable insight for employee evaluations.

"St Bernard's iPrism ranked superior in performance and cost effectiveness compared to all other products we reviewed. By adding iPrism to our network, we have mastered all the goals set forward by our management team," said Ron Walker, system administrator at Loan Center of California. "I rest easy knowing that Web sites particularly known for illicit content will never infect our systems. iPrism is the easiest device I administer, as I haven't touched it since I finished its configuration nearly 10 months ago."

"The need to increase employee productivity and block networks from security threats is one of the biggest challenges placed on SMEs," said Vince Rossi, president and CEO at St. Bernard Software. "Without an appropriate Internet filtering solution in place, companies are giving employees a free pass to access any material on the Web. SMEs such as Loan Center of California are taking a proactive step to help increase business objectives and meet customer needs."

Before iPrism, employees at Loan Center of California had an open Internet policy. Now, the company is assured that all Web traffic (besides management overrides) contributes to profitable business results. Currently, a normal day has an average of just three to five override permits by management, bringing the organization's 'productivity meter' to an estimated 93%-95% of pure business use. The lender also benefits from iPrism's iGuard URL database, allowing the appliance to enforce policy rules based on sites that are 100% human reviewed, minimizing the chance of inaccurate categorizations.
